Technology & operating model alignment
Figuring out where a leadership team is, where it needs to go, and how to actually get there — into the operating model, the technology, the org structure, and the gaps between all three.
Strong teams connected to the business move faster and build better. I work in the technology and the strategy — and that combination is what drives results.
Two decades of engineering leadership across
The work
I started as a systems engineer, and that foundation has never really left me. Those years shaped my whole approach to strategy, organization design, operating models, and how I hold teams accountable for execution.
Figuring out where a leadership team is, where it needs to go, and how to actually get there — into the operating model, the technology, the org structure, and the gaps between all three.
Rebuilding org structure, ways of working and engineering culture so teams execute faster and with more consistency. Transparency and trust, a clear mission, and the room to do their best work.
Hybrid and multi-cloud platforms across AWS, Azure, GCP and VMware — from concept and first enterprise customer through to an industrialized, repeatable portfolio.
My experience with AI is on the deployment side, not the research side: which capabilities to integrate, and how to structure teams and operating models around them so adoption is real.

Career
Now
Incoming Tide Partners · New York · Nov 2025 – Present
Advising executive leadership teams on the hard stuff. This isn't advisory from the outside — it comes from having led global engineering and transformation at scale, and knowing what breaks down between the boardroom and the delivery team.
Now
National AI Consortium · Mar 2026 – Present
Closing the gap between a proof of concept that impressed the CTO and a production system that actually performs at scale across a global workforce. That is where most organizations are stuck, and it is the perspective the consortium recruited him to bring to its board.

“I've had the opportunity to work with many managers over the past 30 years, and Alan DeBekker truly stands out as one of the very best. In fact, his leadership is the strongest I have experienced in my entire career.
He has a rare combination of transparency, honesty, and genuine care for his people. Alan has a natural ability to recognize the unique strengths in each individual and bring those qualities forward in a way that helps the person, the teams and organization grow.
With Alan, you always know where you stand. He doesn't engage in politics or hidden agendas. He is straightforward and delivers both good and difficult messages with integrity and respect.”

He balances strategic vision with strong execution, bringing clarity to complex situations while empowering teams to think critically and take ownership. What stands out most is his ability to connect the why to the how — aligning teams around real business value while investing in people and growth.”
“Alan's institutional knowledge and work ethic are second to none. He led or contributed to two datacenter migrations and took on additional application responsibilities without skipping a beat. Alan was a tremendous asset to my team.”
